Healing and Meditation

This week, I have been learning about meditation and reflection and how they can help one focus on goals and even heal past wounds. Meditation can be defined in many ways. But a simple way to think of it is training your brain, spirit, and emotions to achieve a mental state of calm and positivity. I find that as I start down on this journey, guided meditations help me to focus as I am finding it a struggle to quiet my brain. This video is a great example of how I feel currently:

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert is one of my favorite books, and I enjoyed the movie as well. For me, it is in large part due to the fact I feel I can connect with the story. The feeling of being lost and wanting to be “found”. I am working on learning to find balance in relationships, life, energy, and health. It is not easy, but I feel more dedicated to this than ever before. With the help of others who have so much knowledge to share and learn, I believe I can get there, and I hope that my thoughts and reflections may help others achieve their goals as well.

My ultimate goal for meditation is to reach that state of peace and quiet that will allow a meditation that does not need guidance. Cherry Pfau, Holistic RN, with House of Heeling, shared this meditation with us last week in class. I hope it might help you as well:
